My husband and I took a trip to nearby Waterton National Park this past Autumn. A stunning area which had been devastated by an extreme wildfire in the summer of 2017. Thankfully the town was saved through the hard work of firefighters and residents. Unfortunately, 80% of the hiking network was affected and many other surrounding businesses/structures/infrastructure. This was our first trip back to the area since the fire. The regrowth and rejuvenation were breathtaking.

I have always been fascinated by the death and rebirth cycle of the wild spaces. The dead feeds the birth of the new vegetation and is a necessary part of the life cycle. We grow through changes and the death of parts of ourselves evolving each moment. Knowing the beauty of growth, although sometimes painful in its process, serves as a signal to trust the cycle.
